Generally, I keep this site as my portfolio. But I think I’d like to stray from that format in this post to give a bit of background—and express some gratitude—on my latest piece.
At the end of 2014, I realized there would never be “a good time” to visit Iran. The moment hit me as I watched Anthony Bourdain’s episode of Parts Unknown on Iran. My heart felt full and broken at the same time. I called my dad immediately and that March, we landed in Tehran.
Writing this essay helped me process everything that I felt during my trip. And I’m so grateful for everyone who helped me write it, and everyone who has read it. Thanks especially to The Week for publishing it. I’m humbled.
I hope you enjoy it, too.
