The Week: Iran and I: Falling in love with my homeland that was never my home

Iran and I: Falling in love with my homeland that was never my home

At the end of 2014, I realized there would never be “a good time” to visit Iran. My heart felt full and broken at the same time. I called my dad immediately and that March, we landed in Tehran. Writing this essay helped me process everything that I felt during my trip. And I’m so grateful for everyone who helped me write it, and everyone who has read it. Thanks especially to The Week for publishing it. I’m humbled.
